About
Turning Disability into Ability 4 over 30 years as a registered charity
The MLE Training and Research Society oversees the operations
of the Variety Learning Centre, the Greater Heights Learning Academy. The Society was established on December 2, 1991, and was granted charitable status in 1992.
The Society was granted space by the Vancouver School Board (VSB) for their operations in 191. Seed money was received from Variety the Children’s Charity. Eventually, two portable classrooms on Grandview School property were purchased by the Society with the help of a number of charities, including Variety the Children’s Charity. The VSB continued to be an important partner in the development of this approach to education. The Variety Learning Centre operated successful summer school and part-time tutoring services at this and other sites, throughout the Lower Mainland for twenty years.
The Variety Learning Centre continues to offer summer and after-school programs, individual tutoring and assessment services, and therapy such as: speech-language and occupational therapy, physiotherapy, and counselling.
